Community Service

Following the Salesian Spirit of Service, our 8^th grade students go out into the community and perform service at three different locations: Feeding Tampa Bay, Pinellas Hope, and the Migrant Education Program at Robinson Elementary School in Plant City. Students have an opportunity to serve at each location on three service days throughout the school year. They organize donated food and hygiene products at Feeding Tampa Bay, make and serve meals to the homeless at Pinellas Hope, and help teach and play with underprivileged children at Robinson Elementary School.

CKS students and parents volunteer at the annual Metropolitan Ministries Holiday Tent–checking in guests, helping kids in the kid's zone, stocking and sorting food and toy donations, and grocery shopping for family meals. This is a special family event where parents and students can serve together with other families from our school community.

CKS families donate cans and non-perishable food items the week leading up to Thanksgiving. Grade levels compete against each other to bring in the most cans, which are donated to the St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Pantry.

CKS families donate unwrapped presents during the first week in December. Like the Thanksgiving Food Drive, all donations benefit children through the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Inspired by Sean Devereux, a Salesian missionary who dedicated his life to service of others in Africa, the Sean Devereux Service Club gives middle school students the opportunity to do service and learn more about Salesian spirituality. A typical club meeting involves a service element, such as making Bosco Bags for the homeless, and a guest speaker who shares their perspective on what it means to be Salesian.

Every Wednesday, CKS students bring in money to give during the collection at school mass. The money collected is donated to a variety of charitable organizations.
