Distance Learning FAQ

Here are some of our Frequently Asked Questions regarding CKS Distance Learning.

What if my child needs something from the school to complete their work?
May 6, 13, and 22 (10 am-12 pm) have been designated as drive-thru pick-up days for any academic material needed from school. There will be a bin labeled by homeroom in the front of the school. Please email Mrs. Franks or Mrs. Edwards to pick up items.

Do teachers have virtual office hours?
Teachers are available via email for questions and clarification at the following times: Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. AND 1-3 p.m.

What is CKS doing to protect my student’s privacy on Zoom?
Privacy settings have been put in place on Zoom accounts and teachers and administrators host each Zoom call to manage participants.  In addition, each Zoom meeting is set up using password-protected links. At least two teachers manage each Zoom call to ensure safety and appropriate interaction.

Does my student have to be on Zoom in order to do their school work?
No – Zoom is an important way to give students time to interact with their teachers and classmates but we understand that each family’s situation is different during this time.  If your child cannot attend a Zoom class, please contact the teacher directly with questions during their office hours.

What if my Zoom link doesn’t work?
Please email the teacher directly and they can re-send the link.

How is CKS allowing for flexibility with families who have multiple students, limited devices or bandwidth?
We understand that parents may be working in or out of the home and trying to supervise their children. We also recognize that many of our families have multiple children trying to participate in distance learning at this time.  The learning schedule and Zoom class times have been set up as a guide to ensure flexibility.

What are the academic expectations?
Designated teachers will continue to email academic work expectations for the week by Monday at 9 a.m. This information will be posted on RenWeb (RenWeb > School > Resource Documents).
  • Assignment Due Dates – Students may submit assigned work as it is completed; however, the following due dates have been set as deadlines:
    • April 8: work assigned 3/30-4/3
    • April 15: work assigned 4/6-4/14
  • Assignment Turn In Options – Teacher lesson plans will indicate turn-in options for students
