A Brighter Community is the oldest non-profit preschool in Hillsborough County. The school is United Way supported and is a nationally accredited preschool and family support program. CKS students host a Back to School Bash, a Harvest Festival and a Thanksgiving celebration for the preschoolers. During each visit, the preschoolers get to rotate through four centers with an assigned CKS buddy: craft, story time, snack time and free play.
Bon Secours Place, St. Petersburg is an assisted living residence managed by the Bon Secours Health System. During each visit, students will pray the rosary, participate in a sit-or-cize class and enjoy a snack with the residents.
Care Club is a ministry of Christ the King Catholic Church that hosts monthly luncheons and entertainment for the seniors of our parish. CKS students prepare crafts, hand-written notes and seasonally-themed care packages for each luncheon. CKS students also provide entertainment, perform songs, recite poetry and share a meal with the seniors twice during the year.
Feeding Children Everywhere is an organization that hosts food packaging events to benefit hungry families locally and globally. During Catholic Schools Week, CKS students scoop, measured, bag, weigh and seal ingredients for nutritious lentil casseroles in high energy assembly lines.
CKS students participate in an annual Thanksgiving Food Drive and Christmas Toy Drive which benefits children through the Saint Vincent de Paul Society, St. Peter Claver School and the Salesian Youth Center.
Kings Manor is a retirement community operated by Catholic Charities for low income seniors. CKS students put together care packages to present to the residents. During each visit, students will pray the rosary in Spanish, socialize, play bingo and enjoy a snack with the residents.
Pinellas Hope is homeless shelter operated by Catholic Charities in Pinellas Park. CKS students make lunches for 120 residents and tour the facility. Residents at Pinellas Hope live in tents.
RCMA provides quality child care and early education for children of migrant farm workers and rural, low-income families throughout Florida. Children in the RCMA at San Jose Mission range from six weeks to five years old. CKS students rotate through the four classrooms where they rock babies, read stories, play outside and assist the classroom teachers, as needed.
The Sean Devereux Service Club is dedicated to serving our school, our parish and our community and in the spirit of Don Bosco, especially serving the young and the poor. SDC serves about 20 different ministries both within our parish and the larger community.
