Faculty Friday feat. Mrs. Slavik
Our superhero of inventions and creativity is this week’s Faculty Friday feature. Mrs. Annette Slavik helps ready the minds of our EC4-4th grade students for the world of STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Coding, robotics and invention stations are just a few of the ways Mrs. Slavik works in tandem with grade level teachers to open up a whole new world to our youngest Lions. Read more about the valuable lesson Mrs. Slavik has learned from teaching and why she loves CKS!

What is the most valuable lesson you've learned while teaching?
The view of the world is much different from a child's perspective. Their limitless imaginations help me to remember to never stop wondering.

My mom’s homemade Polish cabbage rolls (golabki)
What are your hidden talents?
Cake decorating & baking
What is one interesting fact about you?
I'm 100% Polish- first generation American born, along with my 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
What do you consider your greatest accomplishment?
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Spending time with my husband and my kids, going to the beach, learning something new to create/craft.
What adjective best describes you?
What is your favorite classroom activity/project? Why?
Invention Station: I love to see the students turn piles of scraps into treasures!
What is one thing you want your students to take away from this school year?
Fail sometimes. It's how we learn many valuable lessons!
Why do you teach?
I just love it. I love helping little minds discover new things. I love the looks in their eyes when they fail and again when they succeed. I love that proud feeling when they keep going when the going gets tough.
Why do you love CKS?
It feels like home.
